At Pediatric Associates, we use the Quidel QuickVue Influenza test A + B which is a rapid test performed in our office. It detects whether our patient has influenza type A or influenza type B. It cannot specifically identify H1N1. We have researched several different brands and have found this one to be the most accurate.

Patients who test positive for influenza A during this current epidemic are presumed to have H1N1 strain. The data from the Texas Department of Health and the CDC confirm that this is accurate.
